Raguel-Thank you so much for sharing about your life and ministry, and including this video. It looks like you had a wonderful time on your mission trip last week. I am looking forward to talking with you in our class this Saturday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns with the material that was covered last Saturday since you were not able to be with us. Pastor Rob
Hello everyone,
My name is Raguel Belony. I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince Haiti. After the devastating earthquake of 2010 I moved to the Dominican Republic. This is where I gave my life to the Lord and began working as a translator for various mission groups. It was at Meeting God in Missions that I met my wife, Danielle, who had come down for a short term mission trip. We served together in the Dominican Republic for 2 years with Meeting God in Missions before moving to Greenville, Pennsylvania. We attend First Baptist Church in Greenville where I am active in the Youth Ministry and the Praise Team. Danielle and I have been married for 5 years. We have two children, and one on the way. Rachel is 2, Daniel is 1, and we will be welcoming Asher to our family the end of April.
My heart is in missions. My wife and I have begun a mission, called Bringing Hope to the Caribbean. Our goal is to bring sustainable farming to the Dominican Republic. Bringing Hope to the Caribbean has just recently received it 501(c)3 status, making us a nonprofit organization. While I was in the Dominican Republic last week we had our first chicken and goat distribution. Through these animals we are giving the people of the Dominican Republic is providing them a way to financially provide for their family. We are also partnering with local Pastors who are holding Bible studies for the people who have received the chickens. Below is a picture of my family, at my American citizenship ceremony in November and a short video that shows the work that Bringing Hope to the Caribbean is doing. The video was from my trip this past week.
families that have received both goats and chickens.
My name is Paula Sommerfeldt I was born and raised in southeast Kansas. I have lived in Belle Vernon Pa for ten years. I have been married for 37 years and have two grown boys/men. All the men in my life are ministers, and are leading their own churches. I am the leader of the Praise and Worship team of my church, Olive Branch Baptist. I also have a passion for missions, leading teams and being apart of missions teams.
Through taking ACTS classes my hope is to glean more knowledge about the Bible and lay leadership.
My name is Scott Cunningham and I am a life-long member of the Franklin Park Baptist Church located about 20 miles north of the city of Pittsburgh. I serve as a lay leader --preaching, teaching, and council member. In my full-time job, I an the CEO of a bank trust company in Wheeling, West Virginia. Our churches need good pastoral leadership of course, but the history of our church shows that prepared and capable lay leadership allows the pastor to succeed. My purpose for enrolling in ACTS and this course is to be a better prepared lay leader.
My name is Deb Copeland. I am part of the Berwick Baptist Church. My husband Don and I moved to the area about three years ago. We have two adult married children and six grandchildren. Two faithful old dogs share our home and lives. I am taking the class and the course to help prepare me for the ministry God has called me to.
My name is Rob Rice and I am currently the pastor at Muncy Baptist Church, and the Regional Associate overseeing our LLC (Leadership Learning Community) ministry. I am married to my wife Jen, and we have four children: Alexa (15), Kaylyn (13), Cole (11), Cohen (8). I am delighted to be teaching this class and to help each of you gain a better understanding of the New Testament as a whole.
